Keepon, the dancing robot
He is Keepon, the dancing robot. Keepon is a small creature-like robot with a soft rubber skin, two cameras in its eyes, and a microphone in its nose. Keepon is designed to interact with children by communicating attention and emotion. It has four degrees of freedom: attention is directed by turning +/-180° and nodding +/-40°, while emotion is expressed by rocking side-to-side +/-25° and bobbing up to 15mm. In addition to his role as a BeatBot, Keepon is used in research on social development and communication. Keepon is a research platform and is not commercially available at this time. But you can see him in many festivals and events and he is even starring in the new Spoon video 'Don't You Evah.' ! You can find these and much more info on Keepon's site.

Wanna be in the new Pet Shop Boys video???
Electro-pop pioneers the Pet Shop Boys are seeking 200 people to appear in their new video for upcoming anti-ID card single Integral, for which filming takes place in central London this Tuesday. The video's producers need 200 people to attend Whitefield Memorial Church, 79a Tottenham Court Road on Tuesday afternoon (between 3pm and 7pm) who they want to variously hold up printed frames of the video clip to their faces or move around in the background. "We can't pay anyone, but there will be refreshments," video organiser Jacqui promised, "And it's for a great cause," she added. The video develops Integral's lyrical theme of ID cards and the erosion of civil liberties in the UK by central government and combines a mix of surveillance type footage and information technology. Also embedded in the film are single frames of QR Code, a new Bar Code technology that is readable by the camera in people's mobile phones. The QR Codes contain url destinations that elaborate on the issues, and encourage viewers to get active. "Everyone is welcome to the video, the Boy's wont be there though; we have already filmed them," said Jacqui. "And everyone involved will get a credit at the end of the video, from one of the barcodes. There's no dress code," she added.

So please if you are in the London area this Tuesday and you feel like to be part of this action , don't hold yourselves back, be there! If you want more information we can contact you with the organizers!

Year Zero Gets Remixed (And Possibly A Small Screen Adaptation)
Details are sketchy surrounding the next steps in Trent's Year Zero project (yes, there are next steps), but until USB drives start popping up in random waterclosets/concert venues, we'll have to rely on the ever zealous NIN webspaces for our rumor mongering. What we can say, though, is Reznor's taking his virally marketed Year Zero out for a remix, possibly calling it Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D (if the album art is to be believed). This comes via NIN's official tour blog. The remix LP's cover is typically cheery (smoke filled skies enveloping a barren, urban wasteleand). Meanwhile, there's been lots of speculation from Day 1 about Year Zero's potential adaptation for film, Trent once having said "Essentially, I wrote the soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist."

The first show features performances from indie-rockers The Shins and rapper Biz Markie.
And if we are talking about children TV shows featuring kool musicians here is an another showbite, found by the Stereogum

MP3 Music: No Longer Connected to Your Brain?
MP3s, bad because they have less music in them. So much less music, in fact, that your brain loses the ability to feel emotions listening to them. Okay, sure, over-compressed MP3s sound awful, especially at lower bitrates. But get ready for some strange psychoacoustics here, folks.
When even the full files on the CDs contain less than half the information stored to studio hard drives during recording, these compressed MP3s represent a minuscule fraction of the actual recording.
What do you think about all this?
Read the full article at the Create Digital Music, very interesting!

What a weird thing! So we had to give it a try :))
Here is the resume of our quick test.
First, you have to sign up to the Musicane, it is free, but filling up the US tax forms is a nightmare.
Second, if you managed to find the Public Enemy thing, you can select where and how you wanna promote it. The Blogger posting automatism failed, after several times we gave up.
Thrid, the myspace try works, so we placed our own Public Enemy Shop at the AudioPorn Myspace (so the illustration is there) it looks odd, the design is ugly and there is only one shape!! It takes a lot of place from the site. There is no possibility to change the size or the look of that thing.
Quick and very subjective result:
Yeah the idea sounds cool, but it is really not that good as it sounds. Tweak it more guys. Of course it was a quick test and we will spend more time with it if we will be in the mood again or when we will have another 2-3 hours to waste. Try it test it and tell us your opinion.

Erasure Star Snaps At Scissor Sisters
Erasure frontman Andy Bell owned up to feeling 'slight envy' at Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears this week and cattily predicted the massively popular New Yorker will sooner or later experience a backlash. "I recorded one song with him, and we were on the subway afterwards and his phone rang. I asked who it was and he said, "Elton", Andy told the Guardian. "He's got a hotline to Elton John, and I thought, "How sweet," because you can see the naivety. At the moment he's feeling like everybody is his best friend, and it's not really like that." The always outspoken performer also spoke candidly about his HIV status again suggesting he'd become infected through his own self-destructiveness echoing revelations he shared with Skrufff two years ago about discovering his impulses through rebirthing experiences. "I understood that I'd always wanted to belong in groups; I wanted be a gay man, I wanted to be a drug addict and I wanted to be HIV positive," he confessed, "I became all of those things, though I finally decided that what mattered was me- I finally learned how to be myself."

Love Sick Sharks Saved By Salt N Pepa
Scientists in Germany revealed this week that they've started playing pop music and hip hop to sharks in Five Sea Life aquariums in an attempt to encourage the unusually shy sharks to mate. "We tried everything else, and it didn't work, so we took a new approach," a spokesman told reporters, "It has been tried with pandas and primates, and it worked with them as well, so why not sharks?" (Ananova) The scientist revealed that Justin Timberlake (Rock Your Body) and Bob Marley (No Woman, No Cry) have been surprisingly effective so far, with Salt n Pepa's Push It being the number one love song.
