Meet the Ropes. They are quite kool and they are our latest myspace friends. The Kill Her Off is a bloody catchy song and it can be really huge. Check it out in their myspace. But who are the Ropes? Keepon, the dancing robot

He is Keepon, the dancing robot. Keepon is a small creature-like robot with a soft rubber skin, two cameras in its eyes, and a microphone in its nose. Keepon is designed to interact with children by communicating attention and emotion. It has four degrees of freedom: attention is directed by turning +/-180° and nodding +/-40°, while emotion is expressed by rocking side-to-side +/-25° and bobbing up to 15mm. In addition to his role as a BeatBot, Keepon is used in research on social development and communication. Keepon is a research platform and is not commercially available at this time. The rumors are true. (Well, most of 'em, anyway.) Dave Smith has emerged from his underground lair (the Dave Cave?) with a fresh take on a classic, the all new Prophet '08. It is an eight-voice synthesizer with a 100% analog audio signal path. And it will be shipping very soon. More details will be available here on the Web site in a few days. Following hot on its heels will be the Prophet '08 Special Edition, each of which will be hand-signed by Dave and which will feature lighted wheels (RED!) and exotic leopardwood end panels. The sad new first, the Ladies Rock Camp 2007 is over, and the Girls Rock Camp 2007 as well. But as you see it on their homepage it is a series. They organize it every year and it looks fantastic. New Bruce Springsteen album

'Magic,' Bruce Springsteen's new studio recording and his first with the E Street Band in five years, is set for release by Columbia Records on October 2, 2007. Produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, the album features eleven new Springsteen songs and was recorded at Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Atlanta, GA. 'Magic' is the first new studio album by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band since 2002's GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum, number one album 'The Rising' (Columbia Records), which was also produced by O'Brien.

The New Pornographers: Challengers

The New Pornographers formed in 1997, almost immediately recorded the classic "Letter From An Occupant," and it was on. Their three full-lengths (as well as Newman's 2004 solo debut The Slow Wonder) received wild critical and public acclaim, and they continue to enjoy bigger (and taller and smarter) audiences. Challengers continues along the lines of 2005's Twin Cinema, whose "relative melancholy makes it the band's best album yet" [Blender]; indeed, the first track, "My Rights Vs. Yours," is almost a cross between that album's beloved "Use It" and "The Bleeding Heart Show". Dialing back the frantic, these are songs with dynamics and epic sweep. While it's still a "top-down summer power-pop classic" (or any variation thereof that the band's enjoyed over the last several years), this is something more personal, more lasting.

Wanna be in the new Pet Shop Boys video???

Electro-pop pioneers the Pet Shop Boys are seeking 200 people to appear in their new video for upcoming anti-ID card single Integral, for which filming takes place in central London this Tuesday. The video's producers need 200 people to attend Whitefield Memorial Church, 79a Tottenham Court Road on Tuesday afternoon (between 3pm and 7pm) who they want to variously hold up printed frames of the video clip to their faces or move around in the background. "We can't pay anyone, but there will be refreshments," video organiser Jacqui promised, "And it's for a great cause," she added. The video develops Integral's lyrical theme of ID cards and the erosion of civil liberties in the UK by central government and combines a mix of surveillance type footage and information technology. Also embedded in the film are single frames of QR Code, a new Bar Code technology that is readable by the camera in people's mobile phones. The QR Codes contain url destinations that elaborate on the issues, and encourage viewers to get active. "Everyone is welcome to the video, the Boy's wont be there though; we have already filmed them," said Jacqui. "And everyone involved will get a credit at the end of the video, from one of the barcodes. There's no dress code," she added.
